I’ve been told by two reliable mechanics that Saabs and Volvos with automatic transmission are much more likely to need major repairs or replacement than the same make with manual transmission. I’m seriously considering either a used Saab (a 2000 model year) or Volvo (1999) both with over 65,000 miles. Both cars are being sold by the original owners who have all the maintenance records, and mechanically everything else checks out, including clean Carfax reports. I drove cars with manual transmssion for 15 years and strongly prefer an automatic.

I only have one key to my 2000 volvo s80, I know it has the PATS chip in it, I just wonder how much it will cost from the dealership, or is there another source that I can turn to, to have this done.

I just bought a 2002 Volvo S60 and it only came with one key. I would like to get another one made as soon as possible, but I am being quoted $140-$200 by the dealerships, who apparently are the only ones that can copy newer keys. Does anyone know of a better way to go about doing this?

In the new Volvo C70 commercial (convertible), it showed three friends in the car, and there was this song playing, containing the words “I could feel the rain clouds…” and such. Its been bugging me for a while.

Please help!

I own a 1988 740 turbo volvo that runs great, but the lights are a lil screwy. The head lights work but tue dash lihjts wont, when the dimmer switch is turned the dash lights turn on but the head lights turn off. I know it’s the problem with the rheostat, but I don’t know how to fix it. If I need to replace it or just rewire it, i checked all the fuses and they all work. Any info would be nice.

I’d like to find a used Volvo wagon but I want it to have LATCH for an infant seat. (LATCH stands for “Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren” and is a standard part of the child restraint system found in cars today.)
It would be helpful to know what model years have the LATCH system so I can eliminate the ones that don’t. Thanks!

One of my co-workers totaled the frame of her volvo. I thought that was impossible because I thought the volvo frame was re-enforced. Isn’t volvo suppose to be the safest car on the road?

I just bought a 2000 Volvo S40 for a car dealer. However, the transmission(auto) slips under the situation that I accelerate the car from 55 miles to 65. My friend told me it is the problem of transmission. Where can I find a reliable maintenance shop on deling with volvo cars in Dallas, Texas?
