How to remove rams from a volvo sterndrive?

Cannot figure how to remove the pins that hold the hydraulic rams from a volvo 290 stern drive. Someone told me that i have to remove a bolt located inside and then apply grease from the outside. Anyone with better directions out there?

These are a bitch. Yet another brilliant design from Volvo.
There is a small screw that holds each pin in way up inside the transom plate(which will of coarse probably snap off once you finally get a socket on them, so be careful).
